I then downloaded all the other Office apps, and they all work. I then downloaded Word, signed in using my work Office 365 account, and it worked. I then again did a factory reset of the same iPad, but set it up using a new personal Apple ID which I set up just for testing this. I did some research and found a similar issue which was traced to a problem with Linkedin accounts, but I don't have one. It still crashed immediately (obviously I didn't sign into my work Office 365 account this time, since I had no opportunity to do so). Quit all Microsoft Office for Mac programs. Repeat steps A through C until you exit all active applications. Select an application in the 'Force Quit Applications' window.
